New JTBC show 'Girls Who Can Eat' met with scathing viewer response


On June 29, JTBC's new variety show 'Girls Who Can Eat' starring A Pink's Namjoo,Nine MusesKyung LiSECRET's HyosungRed Velvet's SeulgiOh My Girl's Jiho,Gugudan's Kang Mina, and TWICE's Dahyun and Tzuyu aired its pilot episode.


The pilot episode's viewer ratings achieved a mediocre 1.519%, but netizen response to the new show doesn't seem quite positive. In fact, many viewers seemed against JTBC putting a twist to a mukbang-themed show by adding girl group members whenmukbang is becoming a dying trend on mainstream TV these days. Furthermore, numerous viewers seemed to find the concept of girl group members overeating a cruel concept to watch.
Netizen comments toward the show included, "Honestly, even for regular people, eating foods like that at night is overwhelming, so it's sad to see girl group members having to do it," "This program has no humanity, just products," "I only see this as a show trying to make fan wars happen," "Variety shows should be enjoyable, but this is just sad," and more.
