IU crafted her most personal album to date with Palette and it's led the K-pop superstar to her first No. 1 on Billboard's World Albums chart.
Palette debuts atop World Albums with 1,000 copies sold in the week ending April 27, according to Nielsen Music. This marks the solo superstar's best first-week sales in America and makes it the best-selling K-pop album in the States this week too. Notably, while most K-pop acts tend to release new material on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to better coincide with the charts and promotional schedules in Korea, Palette dropped on a Friday, which is the global release day and ensured her a full week of sales on the Billboard charts.

While it's her first chart-topper on World Albums, IU had been consistently charting with albums since 2013. In 2013, she dropped the full-length Modern Times, which debuted at No. 4 on World Albums, followed by 2014's cover EPs titled A Flower Bookmark that peaked at No. 14, and most recently appeared with 2015's Chat-Shire EP that also hit No. 4. She's one of five K-pop acts to hit score a World Albums No. 1 this year, but the first female solo act to do so.
Notably, this also marks IU's second entry on the Heatseekers Albums chart with Palette bowing at No. 25. While Chat-Shire charted higher when it hit No. 19, still scoring a second entry on Heatseekers makes IU just one of two female K-pop solo acts to have multiple entries on the tally that sees way less K-pop acts chart -- Taeyeon only has more than her with three entries.
As previously reported, the album's title track acts as a coming-of-age single with featured rapper G-Dragon almost acting as a wise and guiding sage to his junior. The fizzy, electro-pop cut peaks at No. 4 on the World Digital Song Sales chart with nearly 2,000 copies sold. IU released Palette ballad "Through the Night" before the album's release, which hit No. 16 on the chart dated April 15. "Palette" is just below IU's peak on World Digital Song Sales, only bested by her 2011 megahit "You and I," which peaked at No. 3.
So far, IU has released four visuals for four different tracks from the album. She most recently dropped a visual for the cut "Ending Scene," which you can see below:

Korean Food Guide: 44 Things to Eat in Seoul, South Korea and Where to Try Them

Before our trips to Korea, my knowledge of Korean food was pretty much limited to  kimchi ,  bulgogi , and  japchae . My exposure to the cuisine never really went beyond that in spite of having several Korean friends, including a Korean roommate for a couple of years. I think part of it is due to how damn good Korean barbecue is. It’s so delicious that it was pretty much all I ever looked for when eating at Korean restaurants. Bulgogi for my main course, and a plate of japchae on the side. That was it. But thanks to our two trips to Seoul, in 2015 and 2017, my Korean food vocabulary has expanded to over 40 dishes. As delicious and universally appealing as Korean barbecue is, I’ve learned that there’s so much more to the cuisine than just bulgogi and  galbi . Things like  ganjang gejang ,  jokbal , and  naengmyeon aren’t as well known outside of Korea but they are dishes well worth flying for. Ganjang gejang was particularly memorable. After waiting...
