Because most of the times media & internet related informations provides the wrong information about Masjid Al-Aqsa. In Islam Al-Aqsa is one of the three most sacred places after Mecca and Medina. And even then many of us are not aware about its real picture. Please read below & pass this to all your friends & family members. May Allah (SWT) reward all of us. Many Muslims think the Al-Sakhrah Masjid also known as the "Dome of the rock" is the Al-Aqsa Masjid!!! THIS IS NOT AT ALL TRUE!!! The only truth is that Al-Sakhrah Masjid is near to the Al-Aqsa Masjid. Even if you search for "Al Aqsa" in "Google Images", most images shown will be the pictures of "Dome of the rock" & not the real Al-Aqsa Masjid. The main reason behind this is public ignorance.
