Little Mecca In Seoul [Seoul Central Mosque]

Have ever been to Seoul before?
As you know, you can see beautiful places such as historical site and tourist attractions like Dongdaemun, Myeong-dong Shopping Street, Gyeongbokgung Palace.

You can experience many different sides of the culture in Seoul. Especially, the "Itaewon" is one of the 'swaggiest' place where local youngsters and party lovers would spend their time. The place is the mixture of cultures from all around the world where you can find exotic grocery shops and authentic restaurants.

Among these trendy shops, can you imagine the mosque? You might not. However, there is a huge mosque that works as a central of Muslim culture in Korea in Itaewon.

Let's have a look inside!
You can find exotic restaurants, pubs and lounges where you can spend an unforgettable moment. Many celebrities visit restaurants here since Mr. Hong Seok Cheon (famous Korean actor, television personality, restaurateur) owns a few restaurants here so as many star chefs.

Especially for Muslims, there is a Halal Street close to exit 3 of Itaewon station where you can find rows of halal restaurants, Islamic book stores, bakeries and grocery shops slowly going uphill and it will take you to the Seoul Central Mosque.
This mosque was built with funds from various Muslim countries' government and the 5,000 square meter of the land where mosque was built was also provided from Korean government to show the good will to potential Middle Eastern allies. The construction started in 1974 and it was officially opened in 1976.
The meeting rooms and offices for the Korea Muslim Federation are located in the first floor. The men’s prayer hall is located on the second floor. In 1990, an additional third floor was added and now houses the women’s prayer room. There is also an Islamic Center which features a school for Muslim children and research institute.

Only Muslim can enter the prayer hall. Non-Muslims can also visit the place but are not allowed to enter the prayer room, wear revealing clothes, take pictures without prior consent.

Korean Food Guide: 44 Things to Eat in Seoul, South Korea and Where to Try Them

Before our trips to Korea, my knowledge of Korean food was pretty much limited to  kimchi ,  bulgogi , and  japchae . My exposure to the cuisine never really went beyond that in spite of having several Korean friends, including a Korean roommate for a couple of years. I think part of it is due to how damn good Korean barbecue is. It’s so delicious that it was pretty much all I ever looked for when eating at Korean restaurants. Bulgogi for my main course, and a plate of japchae on the side. That was it. But thanks to our two trips to Seoul, in 2015 and 2017, my Korean food vocabulary has expanded to over 40 dishes. As delicious and universally appealing as Korean barbecue is, I’ve learned that there’s so much more to the cuisine than just bulgogi and  galbi . Things like  ganjang gejang ,  jokbal , and  naengmyeon aren’t as well known outside of Korea but they are dishes well worth flying for. Ganjang gejang was particularly memorable. After waiting two years to try it, you’d think

Citizens are crossing from Aleepo – Syria’s economic hub – to Turkey in exodus fashion, as protests between citizens and government has erupted into an all out civil war. After three years of food and fuel shortages, Syria has become unlivable. Since the new year, attacks continue to escalate killing citizens by the hundreds. Power and water is cut, trash piles up spreading disease. Over 100,000 civilians have fled the front lines of a genocidal regime, even risking a fe
